So, you think you want to be a staffer? There are a few things you need to know first:
Staffing isn't easy. You must use the skills you learned during course and put them into practice, teaching others along the way. Don't let this turn you off - if you want to staff, do it! If you're not sure, come to orientation and see what you think.
NYLT is a commitment. It's a big course with a lot of material and preparation. Staff orientation occurs in January, and we hold overnights to go over this material at least once per month between then and course, plus other occasional events. You will spend time preparing materials of your own at home.
Staffing is fun. We enjoy what we do; that's why so many staffers return every year. You will learn more about teams; you will have more first-hand experience as a leader; and you will be able to apply skills you learn both inside and outside of Scouting. Plus, we do enjoy a few shenanigans... :)
I have participated in an NYLT course, but did not staff the next year. Am I still eligible to staff?
Yes! It's okay if you couldn't staff the year immediately following your participant year.
I have participated and/or staffed in an NYLT course in another council. Can I staff for TFC?
Yes! As long as you've been a participant or staff member in some NYLT course, you can staff in Three Fires Council.

Youth staff must take NYLT as a participant, and be currently registered in Scouting America. If you participate in a Three Fires Council NYLT course, you will receive a paper staff application at its conclusion. Attend the Staff Orientation date listed on the back of the application, and turn the application in at that time.
If you took NYLT in another council, have lost your staff application (or have one that is out of date), or cannot attend Staff Orientation, email tfcnylt@gmail.com.
You must be a registered adult in Scouting America, and your Youth Protection Training must be up-to-date. Email tfcnylt@gmail.com.
